Colorado State legislators are currently considering a bill that would create a new hospice and palliative care license plate to raise awareness of these important health care options for people facing chronic or progressive illness or injury as well as end-of-life care.
As part of our Nurses Week celebration, we want to introduce you to our newest nurse, Lauren Guzman. Lauren is our Clinical Supervisor working with our Manager of Nursing, Terry Ritter, to manage our CNAs (Certified Nurse Aides) and support our nursing services. She’s also coordinating our Foot Clinics, which are coming back after a year of hiatus this spring!
Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice will host Saint Joseph Hospital’s Mobile Mammography Unit on June 2, 2021 in our parking lot located at 3081 Bergen

It’s easy to take basic communication skills for granted. When we can effortlessly communicate, we don’t give much thought to being able to express an idea through clear, articulate, understandable speech. But when we lose the ability to speak clearly and without effort, we instantly become aware of how large a part speech plays in our everyday lives. Losing the ability to speak can leave people feeling isolated and helpless.
Emily gives mountain residents their voice and helps them speak, think, and even swallow foods and liquids. “I am proud to help our mountain community in a variety of ways. Speech therapists have many roles outside of speech and language: educating families on disease processes, strengthening swallow function, and teaching memory strategies. My goal is always to put the needs of the resident and their family first.”
As an occupational therapist, I make sure our patients can function safely during everyday activities. The rewarding part of my job is keeping people in their own homes. As an organization Mount Evans has real heart and soul. They truly care about their patients, and I love being part of that. I work in many old historic towns and people have often been in their homes all their lives, sometimes for three generations. If I can help keep a patient in their own home, then I’ve made a difference.”
We’re looking for full-time and part-time Certified Nurse Aides – CNAs to be vital members of our interdisciplinary Home Health and Hospice teams.

For the past 40+ years the American Occupational Therapy Association has been celebrating April as Occupational Therapy month. These compassionate professionals help people of all ages safely recover from or adapt to changes from injury, illness, disability, or aging through the therapeutic use of everyday activities (occupations). They work with those recovering from an injury or illness regain skills and also work with aging adults to help them remain independent.

March is the month all America recognizes and celebrates social workers. These caring professionals are trained to help people see and surmount the barriers keeping them from living their optimal lives, whether those obstacles are physical, emotional, financial, systemic or all of the above. And, as the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) describes, “They are employed to effect positive change with individuals, families, groups and entire communities.”
