Change a Child's Life
Volunteer applications for our 2025 camps will open on Febraury 1, 2025
Camp Comfort volunteers are extraordinary people who make a big difference in the lives of grieving children. Our camps could not happen without a large community of volunteers and we are always looking for more. Camp Comfort volunteers must:
- Be age 21 or older
- Attend a mandatory training session
- Undergo a background check
- Provide references
All new volunteers must complete
a training session.

Weekend Camps
Weekend Buddy
Approximate Need: 25 per camp
- Time commitment: Friday at 3:00 p.m. through Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Spends overnight at camp.
- Paired with 1-2 campers for the weekend.
- Attends workshops, choice activities, free times, and meals with campers.
Day Buddy
Approximate Need: 8-12 per camp
- Time commitment: As requested by staff Saturday and Sunday.
- Supports small group of campers and their buddies in being a “3rd”person.
- Attends all workshops and recreation activities, and up to 1 meal.
Family Friday Night Check-In
Approximate Need: 4-6 per camp
- Time Commitment: Friday at
4 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. - Greets campers and their families, checks guardian emergency information, and identification.
- Connects camper with weekend buddy.
Friday Check-In for Volunteers
Approximate Need: 2 per camp
- Time commitment: Friday at
2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. - Greets and welcomes weekend buddies and helps them to find appropriate bunk lodge.
- Hand out name tags, T-shirts and weekend map.
- Connects camper with weekend buddy.
Nurse
Approximate Need: 1-2 per camp
- Time commitment: Friday at 3:00 p.m. through Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Spends overnight at camp.
- Required to be licensed in the state of Colorado.
- Responsible for dispensing medication, securing camper medications, providing first aid to campers, volunteers and staff.
Photographer
Approximate Need: 1 per camp
- Time commitment: Friday at 3:00 p.m. through Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Spends overnight at camp.
- Takes formal Buddy Shots of Weekend Buddies with campers on Saturday morning.
- Takes candid photos throughout weekend.
- Attends workshops and recreation activities with a group.
- All photos are released to Camp Comfort to be used in marketing.
Day Camp
Group Lead Buddy
Approximate Need: 2-3 per camp
- Time commitment: 3 days of camp 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
- Will know all campers in their group and be staff’s go-to to communicate needs.
- Assist campers in grief and recreation activities.
Single Day Buddy
Approximate Need: 5-6 per day
- Time Commitment: 1-2 days 9:00 am-4:00 pm
- Be buddies with campers for single day. Partnered with 1-2 campers
- Attend workshops and recreation activities
Lunch Helper
Approximate Need: 1-2 per day
- Time Commitment: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.
- This can be a donation of time and resources.
- Procure food, help set up, serve, and clean up.
Logistics Magic Maker
Approximate Need: 1-2 per day
- Time Commitment: 9:00 am-4:00 pm 1-3 days.
Follow direction of Camp Director and Volunteer Coordinator to prepare camp space for next activities.

- Time commitment: 3 days of Camp 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
