Spiritual Care Coordinator/Chaplain
Nancy provides spiritual care, unconditional love, compassionate support, and a listening ear to our patients. “Many people long for someone to truly “hear” and “see” them as they are. Illness and end of life concerns often cause people to reflect on their lives and frequently feel the need to express what they may have long held inside. I share with people that I do not have their answers, but remind them that their answers lie within themselves.”
Q: Why did you want to work at Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice?
A: I came in as a volunteer and became a part-time employee soon after. I quickly realized the vital role that Mount Evans provides in this community. I particularly wanted to serve the diverse and wonderful residents who choose to live in the mountains.
Q: What do you find rewarding about your work?
A: My work as Spiritual Care Coordinator/Chaplain is especially unique in that I have no agenda but to be fully present for each person I serve with my ears and eyes on my heart. Q: What does it mean to you to serve our mountain residents?
A: It means the world to serve the community I live in. In a sense, we are all friends and neighbors helping one another through life’s greatest challenges.
Q: Do you feel like you make a difference in the lives of patients?
A: The only difference I make is to bear witness to each person without judgement, offering unconditional love, compassionate support, and a listening ear. Every single person holds something within them of great value, and I honor each path.
Q: Describe a moment from your job that touched your heart?
A: My heart is forever changed by the deep trust people have placed in me, and my reward is the privilege of walking beside each person.
Q: Not all health care organizations are equal, what do you think makes Mount Evans special?
A: At Mount Evans, we say ‘Our Heart is in the Home,’ but our patients have a home in our hearts. That is what makes Mount Evans so special.
