Finance Director
Whether it was fate, luck or magic, one of the best hires Mount Evans has ever made is due largely to chance. Doug Linn and his wife were wrapping up a vacation and driving through Colorado on their way home to Iowa.
“We were heading back in the car and she said, ‘I’ll drive,’ and then she threw the Sunday want ads at me and said, “Here, you look for a job.”
Doug’s wife had always wanted to live in Colorado. At the time, he was working for a nonprofit nursing home in Iowa, so the position at Mount Evans looked like a perfect fit. That was in 1998 and he’s been managing the finances ever since.
“I love looking at numbers. Numbers come alive for me. Over the 20 years I’ve been here, there have been so many changes. My job is to figure out how those changes will impact us and how we respond to them.”
It’s a job that calls for one part financial guru to manage the budgets, investments and payroll; one part financial wizard to forecast the future in a rapidly changing health care world; and most importantly a person who is all heart. Mount Evans found all three in Doug.
“I feel good at the end of the day because people are getting services. I can’t draw blood. I faint, so I can’t do that stuff, but I can be the person in here supporting our caregivers, making sure payroll happens and managing the finances so that Mount Evans can be here for the community and take care of patients.”
